A.D. Makepeace Company’s inaugural Bog-to-Table dinner on October 6th is sure to be the social event of the cranberry harvest season. If you’ve ever wanted to play Justin and Henry—the two guys featured in the Ocean Spray television commercials—here’s your chance: the cocktail hour before dinner will be held in a flooded bog full of floating berries. Guests who choose to step into the bog can borrow a pair of stylish waders, and a professional photographer will be on hand to capture the fun.
After cocktails, guests will gather under a tent alongside the century-old cranberry bogs for dinner. Each course will highlight cranberries and showcase local producers; additionally, locally-grown or prepared products will be featured throughout the meal.
The A.D. Makepeace Company is the world’s largest cranberry grower and a co-founder of the Ocean Spray Cooperative. In addition to hosting the Bog-to-Table dinner, the two organizations will team up again for the 13th annual Cranberry Harvest Celebration in Wareham on October 8th and 9th. The festival draws some 30,000 visitors annually for its bog side talks, farmers’ market, wagon rides, juried crafters, children’s activities, paddleboat rides, food court, live music, and more.
“The Harvest Celebration is an old-fashioned, family-oriented event, and the Bog-to-Table dinner will give us a chance to showcase cranberries in a variety of culinary approaches,” said Michael Hogan, president and CEO of the A.D. Makepeace Company.
The Bog-to-Table dinner will be an opportunity to see cranberries where they truly shine: in savory dishes that say “autumn,” spunky cocktails, and grown-up desserts. Many seasonal details are still emerging; stay up to date at www.ADMakepeace.com.
